Paryushan Parv 2024 – A Festival of Meditation

It is not often that ‘discipline’ and ‘celebration’ are mentioned together in the same breath. But over the years, seekers at SRM have realised that the two can, and should, coexist harmoniously. And the credit, to a large extent, goes to the annual observance of a unique occasion—Paryushan Parv.

SRM has never been confined by the traditional boundaries of Jainism, but this year’s Paryushan Parv celebrations promised to soar even higher in the open skies of Oneness, with the organisation’s first-ever Festival of Meditation—8 consecutive days of guided meditation by Sri Guru. The heightened sense of enthusiasm among the seekers meant that the sweet fragrance of effortless Sanyam had already been in the air since the onset of Chaturmas, as hundreds of seekers embraced the Chaturmas Niyams and Raj Tapp. This enthusiasm-driven discipline created a pure and fertile ground for the Guru’s grace to work its magic during the 8-day live Paryushan celebrations.

On the morning of 31st August, sincere seekers from around the world gathered at SRM’s Paryushan Parv Centre in Delhi for the grand inauguration of the festival. Sri Guru graced the gathering and commenced the celebrations with the sacred Aastha Anushthan ceremony, invoking the supreme energies of Love and Purity to guide all through the days ahead. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation as everyone eagerly awaited the unfolding of the divine spectacle in the days to come!

With the Festival of Meditation, the Master’s goal was straightforward—guiding each seeker towards nothing less than the ultimate experience that every soul yearns for, whether consciously or unconsciously—Meditation, or rather ‘mediation’ with the Divine Beloved (an affectionate and witty definition of meditation by Sri Guru, reflecting her Love-drenched state!). Each evening’s unique meditation felt like a personal invitation to the Divine Beloved. The event was beautifully woven around 7 Sutras of Meditation through which Sri Guru unveiled the complete and precise path of Sadhana. These experiences, though beyond words, left everyone with an exhilarating feeling of purity and liveliness.

While the evenings were filled with ineffable experiences of meditation, the days resonated with their effects. Mornings started with Dev Vandan and a YogaYog session led by Anu Prabhu, followed by Vairagya-inducing discussions with devoted seekers blessed by Sri Guru—Gautam Prabhu, Jayshree Prabhu, and Ajay Maghodia Prabhu. These sessions were enriched with engaging spiritual and mindfulness activities such as worksheets, Bhakti games, a quiz on Soul Spark, and Mandala Tracing. The energy conserved through the Raj Tapp during the day fuelled the seekers’ evening experiences.

The Paryushan Parv festivities reached a vibrant peak on the 5th day, with the celebration of Mahaveer Jayanti, featuring a musical rendition of the 14 auspicious dreams Queen Trishala saw before the birth of Lord Mahaveer. Seekers immersed themselves in Bhakti and, inspired by the spiritual interpretation of these dreams, pledged to awaken their inner Mahaveer.

The Festival of Meditation concluded with Kshamapna Mahaparv—a day dedicated to seeking and offering forgiveness for all wrongs, whether known or unknown. Under Sri Guru’s guidance, seekers participated in a powerful yogic meditation to release past hurts and resentments. This two-hour process helped them uproot deep-seated negative tendencies, paving the way for a lighter, happier life.

These eight days were unlike anything that seekers at SRM had witnessed before. What began as a step towards the Divine Beloved became a complete plunge into His boundless Love. It was as if a silent whisper of longing in our hearts was amplified by the roar of a Living Master, opening the door to the Infinite… The Beloved not only welcomed us into His embrace, but drew us fully into His kingdom, leaving no room for looking back..!
