‘Courage’ and ‘Strength’ are words that are often used interchangeably. But are they really synonyms? Not quite.
Strength is energy, and courage is the willingness to use that energy in the face of tests and challenges. We need the strength first that expresses itself as courage. Doing the opposite – showing courage in the absence of strength – sets us up for certain failure.
Walking the spiritual path demands courage. Courage to let go of our limiting beliefs, to live a life that is different from our friends or family, to drop the desires originating from our limited intellect, to embrace the Divine Order coming from the unknown field of infinite intelligence. Initially, we might have the courage (willingness) through curiosity, or the innate desire to break the loop of suffering, or perhaps a yearning for the Supreme. But if we continue using this courage without refilling the reservoir of strength, we won’t go far.
So the question is – how to refill the reservoir of strength? Strength comes through the greatest realisation of all – if you’ve been chosen to walk the path, then it is only because you are deeply loved by someone Purer and Higher than you.
Let that realisation sink in, and feel the warmth spreading in your heart. There, your reservoir of strength has been refilled. You are now set to face the day with courage!
