A proud samurai once asked a Zen master to teach him the path that avoids hell and leads to heaven.
The master laughed and replied, “You? An arrogant warrior like you can never understand this secret. Your ego is bigger than an elephant, but your brain is smaller than an ant.”
The samurai’s face turned red with anger. In a fit of rage, he drew his sword to kill the master.
The master calmly said, “This is hell.”
