Before beginning every Math exam in school, many of us had a standard ritual – we would draw a column on the right of each page of the answer sheet, and label it in bold: ‘ROUGH WORK’. While the examiner scored only the answers written outside this column, the real work happened inside it.
Life also needs a similar, dedicated space. A time and place where you can abandon fixed structure, let your creativity flow freely, do something that you love doing that doesn’t necessarily feel ‘productive’, or simply sit quietly, allowing divine grace to carve the best path to flow through you. These are the moments that will help you fill the rest of your life with meaningful answers.
Find that space, block it in your routine, and mark it in bold: ROUGH WORK.
