Frustrated by all the complaints, envy, jealousy, and discontentment that had infected all of humanity, the Council of Demigods held an emergency meeting to discuss the matter.
“I can start a global pandemic to teach them a lesson”, said one demigod.
“I can bring a terrible storm that will cause devastation”, proposed another.
After listening to several similar ideas, the chief demigod said, “We have already tried all of that. Nothing works.”
“Then what do we do?”, asked the others.
The chief demigod replied, “Let us go to God with a proposal for a new Universal Law – Each morning, every human being will be left with only those blessings for which they expressed heartfelt gratitude the previous night.”
After a unanimous vote in favour of the new law, the Council has decided to present the proposal to God tonight.
Perhaps, we finally have a good enough reason to start counting our blessings?
