There are many who question the existence of God on grounds of widespread evil and suffering. “If God really exists, then why so much suffering? Why do bad things happen to good people?” While this may seem like blasphemy, it is in fact a completely valid question, one that every true seeker should have.
Consider this analogy—despite the fact that the Sun gives us an unfathomable amount of energy to grow an abundant amount of food, hunger remains a prominent global issue. But do we ever blame the Sun for world hunger?
God is simply infinite energy. It neither inspires anyone to do good nor incites anyone towards evil.
Every effect that you see, is a result of an extremely intricate interplay of two factors:
1. Cosmic Law—a combination of physical and spiritual laws that govern the Universe.
2. Free will—a combination of an individual’s actions (including thoughts and feelings) and the collective actions of entire humanity.
Suffering is merely an effect. The cause is the lack of harmony between free will and the Cosmic Law.
Cosmic Law, or God, is constant, while free will is variable. And if that is so, then who is responsible for all the suffering?
Perhaps the more important question is, how do we align with something that is beyond mind’s comprehension?
If only there was someone who could guide our free will according to the Cosmic Law…
