Your Actions are Powerless

Our planet’s delicate balance hinges on its rotation and revolution. A quick google search will acquaint you with the various catastrophic ways in which all life would come to an end if the Earth suddenly (or even gradually) stopped spinning, or stopped orbiting the Sun.

Now imagine if someone replaced the Sun with a black hole of the same mass. Earth’s rotation and orbit will remain unchanged. But the consequences will be equally catastrophic.

The microcosm of a human being mimics the macrocosm, and thus a similar principle dictates the impact of every single action we perform. In itself, an action is as powerless as the Earth revolving around a black hole. It’s what lies at the centre that truly matters, i.e., the intent behind the action.

In Mahabharat, faced with Arjuna’s pre-war hesitation, Lord Krishna could have simply commanded him to fight. Instead, He patiently purified Arjun’s intent, and blessed humanity with the Bhagavad Gita.

This epic historical anecdote reveals a mighty secret. No matter how small or big the action, if the intent revolves around a Higher Purpose, it keeps your life fertile for growth in all aspects – physical, mental and spiritual. But if the action is rooted in selfish pursuits, it eventually plunges you into the darkness of illusion and suffering.

Resolve to let your actions revolve around the guiding light of the Higher and Purer, and celebrate the beauty of the life that thus evolves.
