“The goal of every goal is happiness!”

Every human being who is born on this earth, has set at least one goal in their life. Generally speaking, setting a goal, pursuing it, and achieving it is what life is all about. These goals come in varied shapes and forms. A person can have a goal, as immediate as the next minute, hour, day, month, year, or even decade. There is not a single person who has taken birth and not pursued a goal.

Religions propound liberation (Moksha), or enlightenment as the ultimate goal, or the ultimate purpose of human life. Just as happiness is the driving force behind all our worldly actions, the spiritual goal of liberation from the cycles of birth and death also aims at experiencing the state of ‘eternal’ & ‘infinite’ happiness. However, liberation is not something that can be achieved overnight. It requires a path and constant efforts in the right direction. And along this path that leads to our ultimate destination, we are bound to have certain intermediate goals. In other words, apart from this ultimate goal, we are constantly faced with immediate goals that we need to simultaneously deal with at every phase of our lives. It is not possible to achieve liberation without fulfilling these immediate goals. A student has certain academic objectives to meet, while a working professional will have work related aspirations. Even in our relationships, we set benchmarks for ourselves. Thus, having set so many goals in life, what is stopping us from achieving them? Are there ways to ensure that we fulfill these immediate goals while simultaneously progressing towards our ultimate goal, that is liberation?

Through this video, Sri Guru explains how our immediate and ultimate goals are not separate, but rather they complement each other. We learn the right way to pursue our goals, such that while fulfilling our immediate goals and responsibilities, we are in fact advancing towards accomplishing the ultimate goal of our life!
