Our five senses, along with an advanced structure of the brain and the mind, make this human life an invaluable asset for experiencing the nature of Self, God and this entire Creation. But what happens when we get addicted to external sensory inputs? The same sense organs become a means of our spiritual, mental and intellectual decline. The reason, as Sri Guru explains, is our intense desire for sensory pleasures. This intensity of desires is far more pronounced in us than other creatures having lesser number of faculties (Indriya).

In this video, Sri Guru compares various creatures from single-sensed (Ekendriya) to five-sense (Panchendriya) creatures. The Master highlights this widespread proclivity of ours – how we tend to get entangled in worldly desires and their fulfillment, and remain trapped in the circle of transmigration. We learn why it is so important for us to rise above our desire for worldly pleasures and use our senses for Devotion.
