Once, a Saint was giving a discourse, revealing the mystical depths of an ancient scripture. Among the audience was an atheist man, who scoffed at religion and God, but was reluctantly attending the Satsang at his wife’s insistence.
As the Satsang concluded, the Saint invited questions, welcoming anyone seeking clarity. The non-believer’s hand shot up. “I don’t believe in God”, he declared, “nor do I believe that you know anything about Him. But I will become a believer, right here and now, if you can teach me this entire scripture while standing on one foot.”
A collective gasp rippled through the Saint’s disciples. Infuriated, they demanded an immediate apology from the audacious man.
But the Saint, with an unshakeable calm that silenced the room, slowly stood up, balanced himself gracefully on one leg, and pronounced, “How you treat others, you treat yourself. What you wish for others, you wish for yourself. That is the whole scripture; the rest is commentary.”
